Robbie signs new deal

Robbie Crawford today penned a full time deal for the 2017/18 season.

Robbie said :”I am pleased that it’s all sorted now. I have to thank the gaffer for giving me some time to think as I had a few other options however he made it clear to me how much he wanted to me to stay and with the club going full time it was an easy decision to make.

I was impressed with the signings that we have made as well. Obviously I know Moff and Geggsy as I have played with them here before and I have played against Chris Higgins so I know how difficult he is to play against.”

Manager Ian McCall said :”I am delighted that Robbie has decided to stay as there was interest at a higher level from 2 or 3 different clubs, which was no surprise to me. He has shown his commitment and we are thrilled with that. I felt Robbie was one of the best midfielders in the Championship at times last season and if it wasn’t for the horrendous tackle at Easter Road I think we would have found it extremely difficult to hold onto him.

Craig McGuffie has made the decision to take a year out of university and go full time so he has been given a full time contract on improved terms. We have very high hopes for Craig and full time training will only improve him.

We are very close to finalising the contracts for Greg Fleming and Paddy Boyle. Greg is extremely important to us and although he wont be able to commit to every training session he is going to be able to do a more than adequate amount.

Paddy is absolutely proven in this league, the last twice he has been in it he has been in the team of the year. He is experienced, great in the dressing room and would be a big player for us. Paddy would be on a completely full time basis.

We are still working on getting another couple in, finances will dictate whether that’s possible but I would certainly like to add a couple more to the squad.”

Mitre Delta Returns

June 1st 2017

THE LEGEND RETURNS

Mitre, match ball of choice for the Scottish Professional Football League, is ready to make history again with the return of its iconic Delta trademark. Redesigned, reinvented and rejuvenated, the Delta is back as Mitre’s new official match ball for the EFL, SPFL and WPL, engineered for optimal control, accuracy and power.

Instantly recognisable thanks to its heritage, the Delta holds a unique place at the heart of British football and over the years has been treasured by players and fans alike. Last seen on Scottish football pitches in 2001, its return means that a new generation of players can now have their first football experiences with a brand new ball with the same legendary trademark. This season the Delta returns – resigned, reinvented and rejuvenated – wearing the classic fluo and silver colourway which makes the SPFL ball unique.

This, the most advanced football from Mitre, features brand new technology including a textured surface for instinctive aerodynamic control. The added embossed grooves provide up to 400% more stability at speeds of 30 – 45 mph as well as greater accuracy vs a flat panel construction of the same ball¹.

A distinctive 14 panel design with innovative Hyperseam™ technology ensures optimum energy dissipation and a super accurate flight. Combining the benefits of bonded and stitched seams guarantees superb speed and pin-point accuracy with a consistent feel, almost zero water uptake² and superior durability. A laminated bladder combined with a rubber sheet constructed in between two layers of foam backing give explosive power coupled with improved control.

Mark Upshall, Head of Category at Mitre Sports International, says; “We’re really proud of the Delta trademark and its iconic heritage so can’t wait to bring it back. Our new Delta ball has been updated with brand new technology to make it our most innovative football yet. We hope its return will inspire new moments of football brilliance among future generations – the same way it has with players in the past”.

The Delta (RRP £115), Delta Replica (RRP £12) and Delta Replica Mini (RRP £7) will be available for purchase from 1st June exclusively through Mitre.com. From 15th June onwards, the range will be widely available at all key retailers.

Footgolf event postponed

Due to unforeseen circumstances the Ayr United Legends Footgolf event, which was due to be played next Saturday, has been postponed.

We will confirm the new date at the end of June after the fixtures for the coming season have been released however it is expected to be held on a Sunday in early September.

Thank you to everyone who has put a lot of work into the event and we look forward to seeing everyone at the rescheduled date.

Shirt/Shorts Draw & Auction 2017

Ayr United are holding their annual Shirt/Shorts and Auction night on Friday 7th July. The popular event will be held in the Ally MacLeod Hospitality Suite and begin at 7.30pm.

This coming season will see us as one of the favourites to gain promotion straight back to the Ladbrokes Championship and we kick off the season with an Ayrshire derby against Kilmarnock at Somerset Park which is live on BT Sport.

The event gives businesses, organisations, groups of fans or individuals a unique and relatively inexpensive opportunity to advertise on the back of the Ayr United team shirts and on the shorts for the 2017/18 season for just £150 for one entry or £250 for two entries.

Crucially the winners will have their logos on the strips for the Kilmarnock match which will be a fantastic opportunity to have your details on show all over the world.

All entrants will receive two tickets for the event which includes a complimentary buffet and a welcome drink. All entrants will also receive their name/company name featured in every matchday programme and for the first time this year we will also include a link to your website on the Shirt & Shorts entrants page on our new website.

The prize list is as follows.

1st Prize – Back of team shirt advertising, Home and away strip.

2nd Prize – Front of team shorts advertising, Home and away strip.

3rd Prize – Match Hospitality for 6

4th Prize – Boardroom guests of directors for 4
