Gerry signs up!

Delighted to confirm that Gerry McLauchlan is our most recent signing for 2015/16. Gerry, 26, has most recently played over 100 games with Brechin City and is a tall, imposing Central Defender.

Manager Ian McCall said :”Gerry is a no nonsense centre back. I am absolutely delighted to get him especially when there were other offers there from clubs in our league. He is dominant and good in the air. Hes a great type of boy and exactly what we need. Gerry is a winner and would kick his granny out the way to win a football match.”

Manager extends deal

Ayr United manager Ian McCall has agreed a one year extension to his current contract meaning that he will now be in charge until at least the end of the 2016/17 season.

The manager said :”I am delighted to commit to this club for a longer period of time. I am thrilled by the reception that I have had from everyone since arriving here. The fans especially have been brilliant with me and despite results not being great they could see what we have been trying to do and the improvements in the performances. We have some real quality already at the club and we are adding to it with some top signings. The board have put their faith in me and I want to repay that over the coming years. This club has great potential and the first thing we need is increased home crowds and atmosphere and our aim is to provide a team on the park that will make this town proud again.”

Ayr join On the Road

Ayr United are delighted to join the On the Road campaign for visiting fans to Somerset Park.

The initiative is for all the teams in League One competing in the 2015/16 season. If you are a season ticket holder for your club and you bring it along to Somerset Park then we will give you reduced entry to £13.

Like Stenhousemuir we also hope that all clubs in our league will agree to offer a similar arrangement for supporters of all clubs.

Chairman Lachlan Cameron said “I’m delighted to be joining the On the Road campaign. Season ticket holders are the backbone to every football club and this is a great way to recognize those who make the commitment to their own clubs and football in general.”

Trouten comes back to Ayr

Alan Trouten joins on a two year deal after spending the last 3 seasons with Brechin City and scoring more than 50 goals.

Manager Ian McCall said :”Alan was one of my key signing targets. He wont be played as a winger and with his goals tally it will take pressure off the strikers. He is a great talent and with the likes of him, Robbie Crawford and Alan Forrest its a really mouthwatering prospect. There was lots of interest in him from our league and above however he was really keen to come back to Somerset Park.”

Alan has played more than 50 times for Ayr in a two season spell from 2010/11 to 2011/12 so is no stranger to the club. Alan has been in the PFA Scotland team of the year for League One in two of the last three seasons and he was also nominated for the PFA Scotland League One player of the year last season.

Paddy Boyle signs for United

Tonight we are delighted to announce the signing of 29 year old left back Paddy Boyle on a two year deal.

Manager Ian McCall said :”I am thrilled to get Paddy to sign as in my opinion he was the best left back in our league last season. I signed him when I was at Partick and he did well for me there and he will have no problems fitting into our squad. With Paddy our left back and Nicky right back we have the best full backs in the league and it means we can play a certain way. He is a quick player,a good age and has good experience. There’s no question he can play at the level above as well. This signing will also mean Mikey Donald can play further forward.”

Paddy started his career with Everton and has also represented Scotland at under 19 level. He has played well over 60 times for Airdrie in the last two seasons and was voted in last seasons PFA Scotland team of the year for League One.
